About the event
Description: Learn about prescribed fire techniques and strategies on the UW-Platteville campus with experts from the Wisconsin Prescribed Fire Council, UW - Platteville faculty, and Pheasants Forever! The content will cover fire ecology, planning, and implementation through a mixture of classroom instruction and group exercises. Live-fire exercises will be facilitated if timing and weather allow.
What to Bring: Trainees must bring a water bottle, a bag lunch, and fire-appropriate clothing including leather boots (at least 6″ tall), leather gloves, and long-sleeved pants and shirts made with all-natural fibers such as cotton (no synthetic fibers such as polyester or nylon). Trainees must also be in good health and willing to sign a liability waiver after registration. Personal Protective Equipment, fire tools, coffee, and snacks will be provided.
