Workshop | NWCG Wildland Firefighting Courses S-131/S-211/S-219 | LSFSC, PF and UW-Platteville

The Lake States Fire Science Consortium (LSFSC) is teaming up with Pheasants Forever (PF) and UW- Platteville to combine 3 National Wildfire Coordinating Group (NWCG) certification courses into one 5 day session!

 S-131 (Firefighter Type 1 Training) will qualify you to be a squad boss on the fire line. S-211 (Portable Pumps and Water Usage) will give you an overview of all the mechanized water equipment that can be used on the fire line. S-219 (Firing Operations) gives you the tools to lead ignitions operations for fire crews. 

This will be a great option for those looking to take the next step up from crew member to squad boss.

NWCG training courses are nationally recognized and will give you the opportunity to burn with any organization throughout the United States at the leadership levels specified above.

Prerequisites:

1. You must have completed NWCG S-130/S-190/L-180 courses to participate. 

2. For S-131 you must be qualified as a Firefighter Type 2 (FFT2). This means you should have participated as a crew member on 5+ prescribed burns, wildfires, or an equivalent incident. Otherwise, we can only provide certificates for S-211 and S-219. 

3. It is recommended to have S-290 before taking S-219, but it is not required.

Time: 8:00 am - 5:00 pm for all days
