Prescribed Burn Training for Landowners | Mount Horeb

Whether you are new to prescribed burning or looking to refresh your skills, this workshop provides valuable knowledge and practical advice to begin your journey to achieve successful and safe burns on your property. During the day-long workshop, participants will learn about fire ecology, burn techniques, safety protocols, equipment usage and more.

This workshop is the first step in the Prescribed Fire on My Property program. After taking the course you will be invited to participate in community burns and will have access to further learning opportunities to build your prescribed burning skillset and connect with others in the area trying to do the same.

Note: This workshop will NOT give you all the skills and the experience you need to successfully and safely administer a prescribed burn on your property, this is an introductory course.

Lunch and snacks are provided.

This workshop will take place indoors for the first half of the day. In the afternoon, participants will be asked to drive 5-10 minutes to an outdoor grassland location to watch a live fire demo (if the weather permits).
