Protect Your Land from Development

A conservation easement is a legal agreement between a landowner and a land trust or government agency that permanently limits uses of the land in order to protect its conservation values, either natural or man-made.

The following organizations serve an important role in protecting land through easements or the purchase of property from volunteer landowners.

Formerly known as the Madison Audubon Society, the Southern Wisconsin Bird Alliance works to protect and improve habitat for birds and other wildlife through land acquisition and management, education, and advocacy.
