About the event
Laura Daniels grew up on a dairy farm, and has been working with grazing cattle ever since. Now, she and her colleague Eric are launching a new endeavor: integrating prescribed fire into their grazing operations to restore vital habitat for grassland birds and wildlife.
Want to see how they balance conservation with a profitable livestock operation? Join Laura, Eric, and a team of grazing and prescribed fire experts for a pasture walk. You'll get a firsthand look at their innovative setup, including how they use virtual electronic fencing (e-collars) to manage their herd and improve the land and how they are managing the woodlands, wetlands, and other habitat types on their property.
Professionals from Pheasants Forever, Sand County Foundation, and more will be on site to answer your grazing and prescribed fire questions.
Snacks and drinks will be provided at the beginning and end of the tour. If you would like water while on the tour, please bring your own water bottle. A port-a-potty will also be available at the beginning and end of the event.
The tour will include some steep terrain and uneven surfaces, please wear good hiking shoes and dress appropriately for the weather.
This event is occurring on private property, attendees will be provided with the exact address upon registration.
